It's been one week

...since I blogged last time. And there's new stuff to talk about!

Like I said last week: "From November 8th through the 29th, I'll be participating in my fourth gallery show at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. I will be sharing the gallery space with fellow Grizlybexar Collective member M. E. Majeske. Her medium is photography, and she has her work printed on stretched canvas. The opening reception is the evening of the 8th, from 6 - 9pm. This event is free and open to the public." As of this entry, I have all but two pieces hung on the wall. They're there, chillin' in the gallery, waiting for me to get busy. I'm really excited for this show, and one of the gallery managers told me someone has already expressed interest in my Yellow Swimsuit painting. Awesome!

Along with Saturday's trek into Dallas for the Art Conspiracy 9 painting day (see previous post), I'll be part of an art event on Sunday, as well. This Sunday in Fort Worth, from noon to four pm, Magnolia Street, part of the Near Southside neighborhood, will be completely closed off to vehicular traffic from 8th Avenue to Hemphill Street! The event, appropriately titled Open Streets, is a family-friendly, bike-friendly event meant to bring neighbors together. The Piranha Bear art collective was invited to have artists set up booths to show and/or sell their art. I'm not sure what kind of art-buying crowd will be there, but I'm happy to get my name out there as much as possible. In between getting everything ready for my Friday and Saturday events, I've been trying to produce a few more works on paper, since they seem to sell faster in the street fair setting. I'm also toying with the idea of taking one of my 5-foot tall canvases and working on it during the event as a live painting demonstration, and to get people interested in my work. Wish me luck!
